Greeting from the President of the International Society of Oral Care
Kazuto Hoshi, M.D., Ph.D.
Professor and Chair, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Department of Sensory and Motor System Medicine
Graduate School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo
President, International Society of Oral Care
On behalf of the International Society of Oral Care (ISCO), it is my great honor as President to join Professor Hiroshi Kurita in warmly inviting you to Matsumoto, Japan, in May 2026 for the 6th Annual Meeting of ISOC.
Oral care does far more than refresh the mouth. It helps prevent gingival recession and tooth loss, supports essential functions such as eating, drinking, and speaking, and lowers the risk of lifestyle-related conditions including myocardial infarction, stroke, and diabetes. The oral care has also been shown to reduce infectious diseases such as influenza and even to decrease the risk of premature birth. In this way, oral care stands at the very center of healthcare—promoting overall wellness, extending healthy life expectancy, and safeguarding the next generation.
Around the world, oral care is rapidly becoming a mainstream of medicine. Professor Kurita envisions a future in which oral care is embraced not only by professionals in dentistry, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, public health, nutrition, and childcare, but also by the very citizens who need it most. To realize this vision, he has planned a pioneering, citizen-participatory conference under the inspiring theme “Oral Care for the People, by the People.” We warmly invite you to be part of this unique gathering.
Matsumoto itself offers a perfect setting. Nestled in the heart of the Japanese Alps, the city comes alive in early summer, when parks overflow with blossoms and the air is crisp and clear. A highlight is Matsumoto Castle, one of Japan’s most beautiful original castles, whose gardens and moat are especially vibrant in June—an unforgettable backdrop for thoughtful conversations and new friendships.
Please join us in this beautiful city for an exceptional scientific program and the 6th annual meeting of ISCO. Together, let’s share knowledge, exchange ideas, and take the next step toward advancing oral health and science.
Warm regards,
